Thank you for supporting Filtered Deluxe Recordings' and James
Hayford's Transperfect - an album of remixes from new friends, past collaborators, plus a bonus new track from James.
We’ve dedicated this release as a fundraiser for the trans community and LGBTQ+ youth at a time when these communities are under attack.
All Bandcamp proceeds for this release will go to the Trevor Project and their work providing support, education, resources, and connection for LGBTQ youth.
This year we’ve featured on every release cover art based on original paintings by artist Christopher Kempton. For this release the art (and album title) is based on the work Transperfect, which he created to raise awareness and support for the trans community last year during Pride month.

Transperfect features seven new remixes from James Hayford’s (Shoes Edits, Plimsoll Records, Numero Group) previously released tracks, and a new exclusive bump. All together, this is a collection “yearning for warm days of dancing, connection, and music after a long cold COVID winter.”
Opening this selection is The Secret Garden (Alex Vickers / UK) with a
deep summery Balearic take on 'I Shall Proceed' from the Colour Of My
Dream EP. James and The Secret Garden previously collaborated on the relaunch of James' Plimsoll Records imprint with the release of his track 'Luv d’up' earlier this year.
Filtered Deluxe label mate LateNiteRush (LateNiteRush Recordings / FL) returns on the scene with his signature Afro-house sound to remix the mid-tempo funk of 'Can’t Get Clean' from the 2020 release One. James approached LNR to contribute a remix for this project after hearing his Sunset In Her Eyes EP release on Filtered Deluxe.
The third track on the album finds James Hayford taking his mysterious
mid-tempo funk track 'Deer at Market', and reworking it with a thumping
house beat, featuring the smokey saxophone stylings of William Suvanne (Quantine Big Band Helsinki, Suvanne).
James was introduced to our next guest artist - Dadhaus, via their remix on the latest Plimsoll Records release, and being blown away
by the deep nu-rave anthems heard on their recently released debut album Enter The Night. Dadhaus did not disappoint with their remix of 'Uneven Steppes', as they work the uplifting bassline into a hands in the air level, complete with synth stabs and acid flavor!
Known to many as the cofounder of the downtempo group Baby Mammoth, on the seminal UK label Pork Recordings - Burdy has created some of the music that heavily influenced James' own eclectic, dubby sensibilities. James met Burdy (Andrew Burdall) after the release of his most recent solo album, Satellite on Filtered Deluxe, and immediately knew he’d be a perfect match for this release. Showcasing his versatility, Burdy delivers a stomping house remix of 'Colour of My Dreams', with a relentless groove, and bouncy bassline.
The sixth track on this release is a wild reworking of last year's 'Higher and Higher', courtesy of New Zealand's Mat Hoods. He brings in elements of bossa percussion and freaky acid lines, all driven relentlessly by the deft drum programming of chaotic disco house magic! A friendship that dates back to 2005 and the Beyond Jazz message boards (if you know, you know), lead to the decision to launch the Shoes Edits side label Plimsoll Records, and release Mat's disco edits under the alias Automats.
As a bonus, James offers the original track 'Night Out In the 51st State'.
Inspired by a night of dancing in Washington, DC to the sounds of DJ Harvey & Young Marco on the decks. On the following day, with those
diverse rhythms still vibrating his brain - James started what would
later become this track, riding with heavy low end, and a loose moombahton meets nu-disco flavor.
Bringing this collection to a close, Filtered Deluxe label founder Stereo 77 steps up with his Ricanstruction of 'Colour of My Dreams', taking it into deep Afro-Caribbean influenced, nu-electro territory, with sharp broken beats, jazzy keys, and psychedelic style vocals.
RIYL: Leftfield House, Nu-Disco, Afro-Tech, Broken Beat, Balearic Beat
