Filtered Deluxe Recordings proudly presents part ‘Three’ in the release series of sample-built groove music from James Hayford, featuring the original collage art of Zach Mastoon (aka Caural).
Inspired by the sounds of golden age hip hop, ‘Three’ is insured to heat up the friction on the dance floors, and boomin’ sound systems alike.

‘Higher and Higher’ opens this release with a perpetual house groove and upbeat soul samples, as James pays respect to his influences through sounds reminiscent of the crackin' snares on SO:HO’s ‘Hot Music’ and the noisiness of ‘Ventura’ by Thomas Bangalter - all layered together through playful programming and surprising twists & turns. Fans of his highly admired Shoes edits will unquestionably find a new favorite with this one.

Next is the bass heavy, mid-tempo breaks jam ‘Full Blossom Squash’. Driven by chopped up hip hop syllables, and the sumptuous rhythm of bossa nova influenced percussion. Indeed, “muito legal!”
